Frequently Asked Questions

Piano Tuning & care

How often should my piano be tuned?

a.   A piano should be tuned every six months to ensure it sounds its best and remains stable.

2

Do I really need to tune it if I barely play it?

a.   Yes. Even if a piano is rarely played, the strings continue to settle over time. If tuning is delayed too long, it can become more challenging to return the piano to proper pitch. During each service visit, we also inspect the piano to identify any developing issues
that may need attention.

3

How long does a tuning take?

a.   A typical tuning takes one to two hours, depending on the piano’s condition.
If the piano is significantly sharp or flat, a pitch raise may be required, which can
affect the time needed.

4

Can Humidity damage my piano

a.   Yes. Changes in humidity can damage a piano's wooden components, causing parts to crack, swell, or bind. If appropriate, A DampChaser humidity control system
can be installed to help protect your piano and improve tuning stability.

5

Do you move pianos?

a.   No. Atelier Aria & Keys does not move pianos. However, we have worked with many piano movers over the years and exclusively recommend Gohns Piano Moving. They are highly professional and exceptionally skilled, and they handle all piano moves
for the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University.

at what you can do with a bit of coaching and consistent practice.

every lesson is tailored to your voice, goals, and style, so you get results and have
fun along the way.

3

just a few weeks. With regular practice, your progress can be even faster, and hearing
your own growth is incredibly rewarding!

4

Will lessons help with confidence?

a.   Absolutely! Singing isn’t just about hitting the right notes; it’s about expressing yourself. As your technique improves, you’ll gain freedom, control, and confidence
every time you sing, and most students even notice a boost in public speaking and
day-to-day confidence.

extensive acting experience and am confident in my ability to deliver nuanced, emotionally compelling performances. I bring both technical skill and expressive
quality to every role.”

a.   Yes! I have experience performing in fully staged productions such as Don Giovanni and Once on This Island, as well as in oratorio settings, including Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the Vienna Boys' Choir. I’ve also performed as a backup singer for artists such as Barry Manilow and Queen Latifah.

a.   I offer a diverse solo repertoire spanning opera and musical theatre, oratorio,
jazz, and blues. This allows me to tailor performances to a variety of events, venues,
and audiences. While I do not play piano for solo performances, I am happy to
arrange a qualified accompanist or pianist to ensure the music is fully supported.

to life with strong acting, confident movement, and expressive stage presence.
Ensemble work, choreography, and fully embodying a role are all strengths I bring
to every performance.

a.   Yes. In addition to singing and acting, I bring stage combat and improv skills, which can enhance a production and add depth to characters. I’m also a trained Piano Technician,
which can be invaluable in the unlikely event of a piano or harpsichord emergency.
